It’s no secret that the North Carolina music scene is exploding with great local talent, and with the popular releases of both Megafaun and Bowerbirds this summer it seems the eyes of the alternative nation are shifting toward the Triangle. I wonder if the folks at Pitchfork know that there’s another highly anticipated local release happening this summer that everyone should be just as excited about, and that’s the Midtown Dickens new album Lanterns. We here at Dust Sleeve have already introduced you to the folksy female trio, so hopefully you’ve been following them closely enough to realize their album release party is tonight!
If not, we’re sure glad we mentioned it. NC locals are encouraged to head to Durham’s Duke Coffeehouse to grab their copy of Lanterns and catch the always upbeat live Midtown Dickens show. MD will be joined by Desk Ark(Greensboro) and Mount Moriah(Chapel Hill), show starts at 8:30… and did i mention it’s free?
The album isn’t officially out until September 15, so snagging yours now will officially make you cool, right? If you can’t wait another minute, stream the Lantern track “Old Dogs” below.
