Man, we almost missed the boat on this one.
If it wasn’t for my girlfriend listening to WUOG yesterday and hearing a track so catchy and folksy and free that it forced her to call in and ask who was playing through her stereo, well then I wouldn’t be introducing you to Yukon Blonde today. But, lucky for us she was listening to WUOG when “Wind Blows” came on the radio, and she loved it so much that she made sure I loved it, and I loved it so much that I’m making sure you love it.
This single off the debut, self-titled release from Vancouver’s Yukon Blonde is going to sound familiar to you. With nature references and thick, sweet group harmonies, you can just picture the beards sprouting off the foursome in their Fleet Foxes footsteps. But be sure to listen to the rest of the album’s 13 tracks before you start throwing that comparison around, because this singular (though excellent) track is easily where it ends.
Instead, the album is a modern 60′s rock devotional – a laid back, harmony driven piece that sounds concurrently new and nostalgic. Tracks “Run With You” and “Babies Don’t Like Blue Anymore” are immediate standouts for any February 2010 playlists you’ve been aggregating.
Yukon Blonde drops March 23 on Nevado Records (Bumstead in the US of A), and you can buy it here or at your local record store.

Thanks, Bill! I thought it was the 23rd at first but kept seeing conflicting reports – I appreciate the clarification!
