Madeline -Tour Ep

We haven’t gotten a new release from Athens, GA’s Madeline Adams since White Flag, and if you’re like me you’ve been craving more of her cute, folksy, singer-songwriter tunes. Well, we’re in luck – this week Orange Twin is releasing Tour EP, six tracks she recorded with Karl Blau (K Records) and Clyde Peterson while on a Northwest tour. The tracks are a wonderful lo-fi collaboration – a display of sound that is grown from the DIY creative community. Madeline and the White Flag band are currently on tour around the Southern US (dates), and if you don’t live there you’ll have to make due with EP standout, “I Waited All Day”.

The Ruby Suns – Fight Softly

I saw the Ruby Suns play when they were on tour in support of their Sub Pop debut and was really impressed by the energy and creativity of thier live show. I haven’t had a chance to hear this weeks release, Fight Softly, yet – but I’ve heard positive feedback on the record. With a continued beat-driven, international feel, the New Zealanders seem to have found a way to make their sound a little more accessible and tightly woven. Sounds good to me!

These New Puritans – Hidden

If I threw out the words “sonic masterpiece” to describe the newest installment from Britain’s These New Puritans you might roll your eyes – but I’m going to do it anyhow. I can be pretty hit or miss when it comes to art rock, but Hidden is one sophomore effort I can get behind. Love it or hate it – you have the respect the sheer mass of instruments, textured sound, and originality that comes on this album.
