Lost In The Trees Sign to Anti-

Lost In The Trees

During my time down south as a University student in North Carolina, I quickly realized that the local scene was brimming with talented artists. I watched as bands like The Rosebuds, Bowerbirds, and Megafaun made the leap from local to national attention, and now we can add another Chapel Hill collective to the mix – Lost in the Trees.

It was just announced that the previously Trekky Records group has been picked up by Anti-, and that their most recent album release, an impressive work of orchestral pop, All Alone in an Empty House is being remastered for re-release. The band’s songwriter and composer, Ari Picker (a Berkley College of Music graduate who has penned an entire symphony), is working with producer Scott Solter (The Mountain Goats, Spoon, St. Vincent) on the expanded version which will be out this spring. I’m sure this will be a treat for existing fans, as well as a wonderful gateway for many into the world of composer-driven pop and folk music.

Some of the most moving shows I’ve ever been to were put on by Lost in the Trees – so I promise you, this is one group of North Carolinian’s you don’t want to miss.

Listen to the title track “All Alone In An Empty House”, streaming on the Anti- site here (and make sure you stick around for when the strings pop in!).
