In the upcoming months, you’re going to hear a lot from me about Weapons of Mass Creation Fest, which is happening May 22 and 23 in the Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland. You’re going to hear a lot about it from me because, if you haven’t already figured it out, I live in Cleveland. And, if you haven’t figured this out either, I’m a huge supporter of cleaning up Cleveland’s reputation as the mistake on the lake.
No matter what might be posted about us in popular media – I truly believe you are lucky if you live here. We have a growing, thriving, and talented art and music community – and WMC Fest is proof positive. In May, a powerhouse of designers, artists, filmmakers, and musicians are getting together to put their work on display and to interact with the Cleveland community through performance, exhibition, and discussion. Hosted at the Go Media headquarters, an inspiring three-story warehouse studio on Lorain in Ohio City, think of WMC Fest as Cleveland’s answer to SXSW.
In the upcoming months I’ll be highlighting the DIY punk and folk bands set to take the stage at WMC Fest, along with bits of news and ways you can get involved.
No matter where you live, I think it’s important to support this kind of local, creative, and community effort. Which is why you should consider backing WMC fest here and here.
What do you say Cleveland? Who’s with me?
