Dum Dum Girls – I Will Be

Last summer Sub Pop brought the Kristin Gundred (or, Dee Dee) fronted Dum Dum Girls onto their mighty ship. I Will Be marks their debut LP as a quartet, after Dee Dee’s various releases as a solo act. The group has gained a good amount of attention over the past few months for their lo-fi, 1960′s bubblegum meets garage punk – a mix of bad ass and sweet that we have come to expect from all-girl indie groups.

Annuals are five dudes and one lady making indie pop music out of one of my favorite scenes, the Triangle of North Carolina. This week they are bringing us Sweet Sister, their fifth EP release. We last heard from Annuals in 2008 with their sophomore take, Such Fun, and this next EP picks up right where they left off. Released on their own Raleigh label, Terpsikhore Records, expect creative twists and turns on this one.

Vinyl and 1960′s rock fans, pay attention to this one – Roanoke’s the Young Sinclairs are releasing their first long playing record this week on Athens, Ga’s Kindercore Records. A collection of favorite tracks from their previously self-released albums, this record is 18 tracks of analog awesomeness. All Young Sinclairs tracks are produced and engineered by the band themselves at the Mystic Fortress, a community recording studio for the Roanoke’s musical collective The Magic Twig Community.
