Last year marked the debut from North Carolina’s Love Language, an outlet for songwriter Stuart McLamb’s romantic failings and heartache. After a mix of praise for its lo-fi sound and dislike for McLamb’s nasal vocals, Merge now brings us the sophomore release from The Love Language. Those who were hesitant over their debut will be happy to hear B.J. Burton’s involvement as the albums producer has brought a bit of sonic maturity.

School of Seven Bells – Disconnect From Desire

It’s been two years since we heard the dream-pop debut from the trio School Of Seven Bells, Alpinisms, and now they’re back on Ghostly International to bring their sophomore Disconnect From Desire. Fans of ethereal tunes will be happy with this one, though I still find myself preferring their first.

Mystery Jets – Serotonin

Serotonin is the third album from the UK’s Mystery Jets, a five-piece that runs under genre titles from Brit Pop to Psychedelic to Prog. But no matter what you call their sound, they have been gaining attention for melodic tracks and 1980 revivalism.
