Have You Met…Safari?

Safari

The Cleveland music scene has been surprising me in a wonderful way this summer with an explosion of impressive Indie rock outfits littering the Lake Eerie shores. One garage rock group whose moniker I have seen playing at venues across town is Safari. This trio fronted by John Carroll dropout Nico Walker are prepping to release their third LP, Maybe Tomorrow which will drop October 2nd on Cleveland’s Exit Stencil Recordings.

Claimed to be a “twist on the original sound”, the eight track Maybe Tomorrow was recorded this past June. Available for streaming or a $5 digital purchase at the group’s bandcamp you can give it a test drive now. Opening track “Connie Gets What She Wants” will pull you in immediately, with Walker’s dynamic guitar riffs and washed out vocals keeping your attention all the way through.

Be sure to check out the record release show on October 2nd with Filmstrip, Swarm of Bats, and Company opening at the Grog Shop. Show starts at 10 – be sure to make it out for this late show and snag a copy of Maybe Tomorrow while you’re there.
